The last meeting of our ‘academic’ year 2024 -2025 took place on Wednesday 2nd July. With a break in August, our meeting included planning for next year, particularly with members involved in considering our future themes of the month. These will be available in September.
Themes are stimulus for taking photographs which we then show to each other in our meetings. They usually create a lively discussion from members about the photo itself, the techniques used, and the compositional features included. We often digress, which is part of the fun!
Our themes for this past year were tackled with enthusiasm and produced some great photographs, some of which can be seen on the Ru3a website. Themes included “Anything with Wheels", “Frame in a Frame,” and “Scapes” (Landscapes, Cityscapes and Seascapes) for example. The theme for this month was “Buildings” and a few of these images are included in this report.
Occasionally we go “out and about” to take photographs together. Our most recent visit was to Nottingham’s Rock Cemetery, where we had a guided tour and took lots of photos, some of which may be shown at our September meeting where the theme will be “Churches and Churchyards”.
Members are also invited to bring in Shots of the Month which are a free choice and of interest to us all.
Altogether it has been a successful year with new members arriving and enjoying the fun of photography. Anyone else interested, do get in touch via the website where you can read more reports of meetings and see some of the photographs.
