THIS PAGE GIVES INFORMATION ABOUT CONTACTING THE MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY, APPLYING FOR NEW MEMBERSHIP, RENEWING MEMBERSHIP AND PAYING FOR MEMBERSHIP

If you live in Ravenshead or surrounding areas you can join Ravenshead U3A. As long as you’re not working full‑time, we’d be delighted to welcome you as a member.

If you’d like to try one of our groups or attend a monthly meeting before deciding, you’re very welcome to come along to one meeting or group session as a visitor.

Before completing the application form, please make sure you read our terms and conditions of membership, as you’ll need to agree to them when you apply.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF MEMBERSHIP
All members:
• Are expected to know, follow and promote the Principles of the u3a Movement at every opportunity. (Click the title to read)
• Must always act in the best interests of Ravenshead u3a and the u3a Movement, strive to uphold its reputation and never do anything which could bring their own, another u3a or the u3a Movement into disrepute or expose it to undue risk.
• Are expected to use Ravenshead u3a’s resources responsibly and only to further its stated charitable objects/purposes.
• Are expected to reflect the current organisational policy of Ravenshead u3a, regardless of whether it conflicts with their personal views.
• Are expected to abide by Ravenshead u3a’s procedures and practices.
• Are expected to treat each other with dignity and respect at all times.

APPLYING FOR NEW MEMBERSHIP

New members from Ravenshead and the surrounding area, are welcome to join Ravenshead U3A. The pages of this website show some of what we do, but if you'd like to talk to someone about membership please contact me. Prospective members are welcome to come along to one of our monthly meetings at St. Peter’s church on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 10.00 a.m. to find out more . You can talk to me at the monthly meeting or contact me by email or phone.

The membership year is January 2026 to December 2026. Those joining between 1st January and 30th June pay the full year membership. From 1st July the membership fee is reduced.

New Members can join our u3a by using the New Member Application Form:

  • For 2026 membership fees are:
    • Full membership fee - £17.00
    • Associate Members - £13.00 (Associate membership is for those already a member of another U3A.
  • For those joining from 1st July onwards there is a reduced membership to cover the final 6 months of the membership year:
    • Full members £10.50
    • Associate members £6.50.

Note: A full member is not a member of another u3a. An Associate member is a full member of another u3a - we require evidence of that membership, perhaps a photo of your membership card or an email from the Membership Secretary confirming your membership.

RENEWING YOUR MEMBERSHIP

Renewal documents are sent out either by email or letter towards the end of the membership year. Please contact the Membership Secretary - Sue, if you need it re-sent or have any queries.

Non-renewed Membership for 2026 expired on February 28th 2026. Anyone who hadn’t renewed by then will not be able to participate in any of our activities.

Subscription details for renewals will be provided towards the end of the membership year.

PAYING FOR RENEWALS

The options to pay for renewals are detailed below but we encourage you to pay by BACs or PayPal if possible.

  1. BACS – Please email me here, Membership Secretary Ravenshead u3a and I will send you the bank details. Please include your membership number(s) in the details.
  2. PAYPAL - Note this option is not available for new membership applications.

Membership renewals can be made online by using a link provided here to PAYPAL. This is a secure feature of the Beacon system and enables you to use your credit or debit card or a PayPal account if you have one. (A PayPal account is NOT required but enables payment by card.) Click on the following link to sign in to the “MEMBERS PORTAL”. Then enter your details as shown on your renewal and follow the instructions.

This will take you to the Beacon website where you can follow the process through.

3. Paying by Cheque:

  • CHEQUE – Made out to “Ravenshead U3A”
  • - For renewals - include member name(s) and membership number(s) on back of cheque
  • - For new members – accompanied by a completed membership form.

4. Paying in Cash:

  • CASH – hand delivered to Sue Warner (address above) along with:
  • For renewals – in an envelope and including member name(s) and membership number(s)
  • For new members - accompanied by a completed membership form

New Member Meetings

We host a welcome morning with refreshments for new members at the Centre at St Peter’s. These gatherings provide an opportunity to meet the current committee, learn about the wide range of groups in operation, and discover how Ravenshead u3a supports its members. New members are encouraged to join groups that interest them and explore all aspects of our community. Sue will contact you when a welcome meeting is planned.
