Seven members of the group gathered for our May 2025 meeting, ranging in ability from fluent to beginner.
We talked about the holidays which each of us had been on recently, as well as upcoming holidays which some of us were planning.
Then the conversation moved on to Richard telling us about his father's work in Scotland as a telecoms engineer. This led onto an interesting discussion about two similar sounding words which have different meanings;
Réparer - to repair (something)
Repérer - to locate (something)
Whilst most of us were familiar with réparer, most of us were unfamiliar with repérer. Thus we spent a while trying the different pronunciations and exploring where each word might be used.
As usual, although we aimed to use French, we sometimes dropped into English or Fronglais when the going got a little difficult. This applies more to the less able amongst us and, yes, I am one.
