PFF Review Wed 1st May Theme Close up / Macro
We had a good attendance today with only a few members on holiday. Judith mentioned that I had a video compilation to show of our visit to Felley Priory later on. Also that as the current ‘Photo Themes’ were coming to an end, next month we need to decide on new ones!
Photos sent in: Theme Close up / Macro
We then went on to show the photos that had been sent in on a theme of Close Up or Macro photography. I explained that with the ‘theme’ and the Felley Priory photos coming in at the same time, I might have mixed them up a bit in the video and for display at the meeting. (I was proved right!)
(Scroll the side bar down to view the photos below - may not work on a mobile or tablet.)
Some members found the subject interesting and might want to repeat it whilst others may have other ideas. Let us know! Overall the pictures sent in were good to see and discuss, so well done to all!
Felley Priory Video
We then enjoyed watching the Felley Priory ‘photoshoot’ video and managed to get a laugh when it showed Andy on the floor, in the rain, photographing a tree. Well done that man! (For getting a different perspective on a shot - although I didn’t see the result!)
I am uploading the video to YouTube so that you can watch it again. The link is also here and will be on the new website PFF page too:
Every Picture Tells a Story
Judith showed us an unusual picture of her glasses. She revealed that these had been ‘lost’. Eventually they were found in the oven as an accompaniment to the evening meal! Say no more!
If you can contribute to this slot next month (but no more missing glasses stories… please!) then let me know.
Shots of the Month
We then went on to have a look at the Shots of The Month that had been sent in. (These were accompanied by some repeated shots that were mistakenly included in the video! Well I was busy with the new website… Hopefully things will be back to normal next month!) Judith and I had some shots from our ride on the Churnet Valley Steam Railway and others from our visit to Devon.
NEXT MONTH’S THEME: SPORT
The final slot of the meeting was taken up with the next Theme of SPORT. Of course, this can be interpreted in any way you think but we looked at ways in which this might include some technical aspects of freezing motion, like you see in many professional sports photos.
The PowerPoint pdf is attached for you to check out again. It contained a couple of tutorial Videos as well as links to helpful website about this topic. I’ll add them to the bottom of the email.
Next Meeting
Our next meeting of the term will be on Wednesday June 5th 2024 in the Brammer Room .
Our last meeting, before the summer break in August, will be on Wednesday 3rd July.
Please come with ideas for future themes, new ones or old ones to try again.
Maybe have a look at the u3a Eye photo group themes here: u3a - u3a Eye. Do any of these inspire you? Scroll down the page past the current theme of ‘WORN’ (some interesting photos there!) to see the list of themes and the photos that were sent in.
We hope to see you all next Month,
Judith and Terry
