Hikers - Silverhill and Teversal Trail, Feb 2026

Despite the poor forecast, 10 members of the group met at the usual meeting point, The Sherwood Ranger, ready to take on whatever the weather had in store for us. We drove to the Silverhill Wood car park, through Teversal and followed the route to the statue of the miner, which we had seen before. There can be an excellent view from there, but on this occasion, we could only see a short distance in front of us!

However we continued on the trail and as we progressed, so the weather improved and we stopped and had our coffee with blue sky above us.

The trail continued across the road and we arrived at the point where we had to decide whether to make the walk slightly longer, or just cut off the top loop and continue the circular walk. It was decided that we would extend the walk and briefly visit the Pleasley Mining Museum where we knew there would be facilities and something of interest. Several members had a brief look around the museum area and as we felt a few spots of rain , we set off back. The rain amounted to very little and we continued on the Skegby Trail, returning to the car park in good time, having repaired a broken gate en route!

The walk was a little longer than usual, 8.5 miles, but reasonably level and hardly any mud, though a few puddles to splash trousers and boots to prove we had walked!

The group meet every 2nd Wednesday and details are sent out at the beginning of the month,  by email. If you are interested in joining us, please contact me      brendasibley@aol.com
