Due to the very high temperature forecast for our walking day in August, it was decided we would not do the planned, relatively strenuous walk, but just do something local that would see us home by lunchtime and before the potentially high temperature.
We opted for the tried and tested Newstead Abbey circuit so we could just take a drink of water and stop at the cafe for a drink or an ice cream and use their facilities! Six members of the group walked the 8 miles and, although not as scenic as the planned route, the company was good and we had some fresh air and exercise.
Next month's walk from Hartington will be led by Richard and the specific information will be sent out within the next week. The main thing to note is the earlier start of 9.00am from the Sherwood Ranger, a change from the usual 9.30am start.
Do get in touch if you would like to find out more about the group or would like to join a walk.
