8 members of the Ravenshead u3a Food and Cookery Interest Group headed out for lunch at The Old Lodge at Maythorne, near Southwell.

'Formerly a traditional fishing and hunting lodge, The Old Lodge has been lovingly restored, allowing the building to breathe again and reconnect with the landscape around it. Rooted in food history and a deep respect for nature, it’s a place to slow down and enjoy the simple things.'

Whilst the majority of the group’s meetings involve each member devising and cooking a dish to a particular theme, to bring to share at a home “fuddle”, they do occasionally eat out together.
Some ordered a traditional Chicken Kiev, another Grilled Halloumi Salad, others Mussels & Fries, and two intrepid members chose to share a Dover Sole, including demonstrating how to debone and fillet their fish at the table!



Yummy desserts followed, with Rhubarb Tart with lemon sorbet, and Chocolate Bomb with blackcurrant sauce and popping candy proving to be favourites.
