Here comes summer!
On a beautiful day in July Ru3a Food and Cookery group 1 met for their annual BBQ.
There was not a single lettuce leaf or tomato to be found on today’s menu. Instead, the members feasted on:
“Mermaids on Horseback”, with homemade coleslaw, beetroot and orange salad, pasta and bacon salad, corn fritters and fresh from the garden, green beans.
This was closely followed by homemade pork burgers, Tikka kebabs, Korean chilli, sesame and honey chicken, and it would not be a BBQ
without some sausages!

Just when everyone thought they had eaten enough, clean plates and dessert dishes arrived along with fresh fruit skewers, delicately cooked over the cooling charcoal, Eton mess and summer pudding with Chantilly cream.

At the end of the meal the conversation drifted towards their next meeting in September when the theme will be school dinners, a trip down memory lane, and several members were spotted scrumping in garden.
Maybe plum pudding will be on September’s menu!
