Hikers - White Edge, Curbar Edge, Froggatt Edge

Weds 9 July 2026. The forecast was for clear blue skies and (very) warm temperatures, but that did not deter the hikers. Armed with suncream, sun hats and plenty of water, 12 members set off from the Sherwood Ranger at 9.00am, slightly earlier than usual in the hope of completing the 6 mile walk before it became too hot.

Unfortunately, the A617 was closed with no warning at the motorway junction 29. The drivers had to quickly decide which way to go! Eventually, after a few messages and a phone call, all 4 cars arrived at the parking lay-by.

We set off 45 minutes later than planned, but climbed up to see some wonderful views and walk along White Edge. The breeze kept us cool as we continued to walk along the Edge until we needed to turn right, but from there we could see Chatsworth. It was then down to some picnic benches, to have our lunch.

After lunch, we walked back along Curbar and Froggatt Edges with yet more wonderful views.

An excellent walk. No stiles and great views.

Thank you to Richard and David for planning the walk.
