Our September meeting focussed on the Seychelles, the exotic island group in the Indian Ocean.
Only two people had been there, which was a little surprising, but since both Air Seychelles and British Airways stopped their direct long haul flights years ago, it is perhaps not surprising.

It is possible to travel to The Seychelles but via a European airport, Paris, Amsterdam, or via a Middle Eastern airport, Abu Dhabi, Doha or Dubai, or even via Nairobi Kenya.
Once there, you are bedazzled with countless idyllic beaches and boulder-strewn rock formations.
But there is more to the Seychelles than just beaches.
We took a video excursion around the island of Make before moving onto Praslin and then to a third island of La Digue.
We were introduced to the Coca de Mer, which is a double nut formed in a suggestive shape and sure to raise a smile on anybody’s face.
We also saw some of the Giant Tortoises that live on the islands with some of these believed to be 100 years old.
Finally we had a drone’s eye view of the islands, which confirmed that the sights are well worth the journey.
