On the first Friday in June 2025, eight members of Food and Cookery Group 1 left Ravenshead to rendezvous at The Apron Café and Bakery where they enjoyed a leisurely lunch. The Apron is situated next to the runway at Gamston Airport, Retford. The friendly staff serve restaurant quality food which is freshly made on the premises with the added bonus of a view of planes taxiing and taking off while you eat.

Several members enjoyed the Beer Battered Cod Loin, Chips and homemade Mushy Peas. While others found Crispy Skin Seabass, Tomato & Chorizo Risotto with King Prawns to their liking. The Rump of Beef with Hasselback Potatoes was pronounced delicious.

Four members were tempted by the desserts of Morello Cherry Jam Roly-Poly with Crème Anglaise or White Chocolate and Mascarpone Cheesecake with Strawberries.

The meal was just what was needed to bring sunshine to a blustery day! A warm welcome, good food and friends making memories together.
