Aprons and Appetites - Valentine's Day 2025

Friday 14th February saw members of Food and Cookery Group One gather for a Valentine’s Day shared lunch. Their theme this month was Fake Away, home-made versions of favourite take away foods. The variety of dishes worked well together resulting in a tasty and satisfying meal.

Having feasted and wishing one of the members a Happy Birthday, the group settled down to watch a short video about the history of Chinese take-away food in the U.K. There was also a quiz about foods associated with love (it was Valentine’s Day after all).

As with most take-away meals there were plenty of left overs for the next day!

The group’s next meeting will be held on 14th March when everyone will be presenting their interpretation of the theme “Green Food”, an early celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.
