Here’s a brief overview of how to play Mölkky:

  • Setup:
    • Arrange twelve wooden pins, each numbered from 1 to 12, in four rows (two, three, four, and three pins per row) as shown in the photo.
  • Objective:
    • Knock down wooden pins using a larger wooden pin called the “Mölkky.”
  • Place the throwing line approximately 10 to 13 feet (3 to 4 meters) away from the pins.
    • For official Mölkky competitions, the throwing line is exactly 11.5 feet (3.5 meters) from the pins
  • Gameplay:
    • Players take turns throwing the Mölkky at the pins.
    • Knocked-down pins are scored based on their numbers.
    • The first player or team to reach exactly 50 points wins.
  • Strategy:
    • Mölkky requires both skill and precision, as well as a strategic mindset.
